About amy

Capital blooms started from a simple garden bouquet for a simple backyard wedding. My friend, who was the bride, didn't plan on having a bouquet for her wedding, & I couldn't let her go without. I sat down, played florist for an afternoon and fell in love.

My designs are centered around a lush, garden inspired feel. I come from a family of gardeners, and specifically English gardens are a big part of my heritage. My style is to create bouquets that look and feel hand-tied straight out of a beautiful garden. I use seasonal flowers with lots of texture, color and movement- I want you to look at your flowers with curiosity and have fun discovering something new and unique tucked in!

Buying locally grown flowers directly from the farm is foundational for my business. I design with fresh seasonal ingredients so my designs are a direct reflection on the seasonal changes in the PNW. Think farm to table, but farm to bouquet!

If my aesthetic speaks to you, let’s meet over a good coffee and talk flowers.

MY WEDDING STORY

I’ve always been a flower lover - I grew up with a mom and grandma, avid gardeners. When my wedding happened in 2017, I wasn’t quite on my professional flower journey yet. I knew I wanted locally sourced flowers, and a bonus if they were grown by my loved ones! I hired my good friend Deanna of Twig and Vine Flower Farm, and she created the most beautiful wedding party blooms. The tables were covered in my favorite flower (dahlias) hand-picked by me from our local dahlia farm and my school’s garden.

It was so special to me to be surrounded by summer blooms and when the night ended, I felt like I couldn’t part with them! I asked my friends to load the car with as many arrangements as possible and I took them ALL on my honeymoon to the San Juans with me. Here I am pictured grabbing the last of the dahlia stems and taking them with me! I want you to love your wedding flowers as much as that. That when the night ends, you don’t want to part with them either.
